Notes from the floor, May 6, 2008
We love this time of year for this is the time that so many school groups come and visit us. We have school groups from around the Upper Peninsula scheduled to come and visit us every weekday morning between now and June 5th. It is great to have these large groups of kids taking advantage of our fun, learning environment. Welcome students.

Speaking of students, with Northern Michigan University recently ending its academic year we wanted to take a moment to thank the many Northern students who came to the Museum to volunteer over the past year. Thankfully, there are way too many to mention by name. Whether it is our monthly Second Thursday Creativity Series, or our other events, the students really come through for us. So, thanks a lot NMU.

The Museum is one of the sponsors of the Marquette Uncommon Bike Tour coming up Saturday, May 17 in and around Marquette. Join your neighbors. Meet your friends. Enjoy the fun of this family-friendly, non-competitive bike ride. The 10-mile course will be well marked and will follow Marquette’s bike path system. The event begins and ends at the Marquette Commons off of Third Street in downtown Marquette. The casual start will run from 8:30 until 10 a.m. and will finish by at noon. There will be a rest stop with water and snacks at the Presque Isle Park. There will also be a sag wagon out on the course. Each rider will receive a commemorative water bottle and there are a variety of door prizes that will be given away. All riders must wear a helmet and all under 12 much be accompanied by an adult. Registration is $10 for a family and $5 for an individual. For more information about registering, stop by the Museum, or call 226-3911.
